Arrival to Nepal

Both domestic and foreign nationals should go through immigration checks after arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport. Passport or any other valid travel documents along with properly filled in arrival card should be presented at concerned Immigration Desk.

If you are wearing sunglasses and hats, please take them off so that the immigration officer can see you clearly while verifying your travel documents. Immigration officers might ask you related questions while screening through your documents. Kindly cooperate by answering questions patiently.

Foreigners travelling to, within and from Nepal are required to hold a valid and genuine passport and visa. Nepal Immigration do not accept handwritten Passport. We refuse entry and deny departure if you are not travelling with valid Machine Readable Passport (MRP).

Crew Members

Crew Members should proceed to the crew desk with valid passport, required to submit a General Declaration of crew members from concerned airlines.

Non Resident Nepalese (NRN)

The passanger travelling to Nepal as NRN shall produce following documents at arrival:

  • Valid Passport,
  • Valid NRN Card issued by Government of Nepal,
  • Pre-filled VISA Application Form.

Note: The traveler shall submit original NRN card on Arrival. The copy and /or digital copy in mobile devices will not be accepted.

Nepali Citizen

Nepali Citizen shall produce Valid Passport or any other valid travel documents during arrival.

For Nepali Citizens traveling from India valid Citizenship Certificate is also accepted.

Indian Citizen

Indian nationals travelling to Nepal do not need a visa.

However, they are required to produce passport/Voter ID card, sufficient enough to prove their Indian nationality.

Birth Certificates for minors and School Identity Card for children below 18 years (accompanied by parents) is required.

Visa Waiver / Exemptions (Do not need Entry Visa)

Based on reciprocity, Diplomatic and Official or Service Passport holders of the listed countries are exempted from the visa requirement to enter and stay in Nepal. Listed countries are China, Brazil, Russia, Thailand, Mangolia and Myanmar.

You can consider getting Visa from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions stationed abroad prior to your arrival.

Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport of Nepal. Immigration Office, TIA has been facilitating Foreigner flying to Nepal by providing Visa on Arrival.
